Robert Jacobs serves as the Instrument Scientist & Manager of the Surface Analysis Facility (SAF) in the Chemistry Department at the University of Oxford and as a Lecturer at Magdalen College, Oxford. His work focuses on deploying advanced instrumentation for surface science to address interdisciplinary challenges in collaboration with research groups across the department.
Dr Jacobs earned his first degree and D.Phil at St Catherine’s College, University of Oxford, before joining the university in 2000. His research interests include:

The Surface Analysis Facility under his management houses state-of-the-art equipment for:

- X-ray Reflectometry
- Surface Characterization via Gas Adsorption
- Dynamic Surface Tension and Contact Angle Measurements
