Robert Hewson is an Adjunct Senior Industry Fellow at the School of Science, RMIT University. He has held academic and research roles across institutions including ITC - University of Twente (2016–2019) and CSIRO Exploration and Mining Division (1998–2010). His expertise spans geological remote sensing, mineral spectroscopy, and regional geophysics, with a focus on ASTER applications and SAR radar processing.

- PhD in geological remote sensing, UNSW (1992–1997)
Research interests include geological remote sensing in optical/thermal infrared wavelengths, integration of remote sensing with geophysical data, geothermal analysis, and digital elevation modeling. He has collaborated with ITC’s Applied Earth Sciences Department since 2019.
Teaching encompasses undergraduate and master’s courses in remote sensing at RMIT and the University of Twente. He has also served as a casual lecturer and research fellow at RMIT (2012–2016).
Professional affiliations include membership in the Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists (Victorian branch committee) and the Australian Institute of Geoscientists. He currently operates as a geological consultant in Central Victoria.
