Robert Harris

Robert Harris is a Professor in the Communications Media department at Fitchburg State University's School of Arts and Sciences. He teaches a comprehensive range of film production courses including History of Documentary Film & Video, Introduction to Film and Video, Audio Production, and Advanced Documentary.

His research focuses on innovative approaches to non-fiction media:

• Avant-Garde Film & Video
• Ethnographic Media
• New Short Lyric Video Works

Harris holds an M.F.A. from the University of California San Diego and a B.A. from Colgate and Sarah Lawrence. As an active filmmaker and film-poet, he maintains a Vimeo profile with numerous video works reflecting his academic interests in experimental and documentary forms. His teaching spans foundational to advanced film production techniques, emphasizing creative non-fiction approaches.

Professor Harris maintains regular office hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30-2 p.m. with additional appointments available, demonstrating his active engagement with students in the Communications Media program.
