Robert Fleming is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Accounting at Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham. He serves as the Director of Postgraduate Studies in Business Analytics and leads the Master’s in Business Analytics programme. With over twenty-five years of experience in education, he has played a key role in programme design and module organisation, including the development of the Accounting & Finance programme.

Robert's research interests focus on pedagogical practices in higher education, particularly within business and accounting disciplines. His work explores the use of diaries for student feedback, the integration of technology to enhance the student experience, and the analysis of incentives for student engagement in undergraduate accounting and finance degrees. He previously conducted research on the challenges faced by BTEC students transitioning to university, aiming to identify support strategies for their academic success and progression.
His teaching expertise spans Analytical Techniques, Academic Skills, Critical Thinking, and various Business Analytics courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including Analytics Micro-courses and Business Analytics and the Digital Organisation.
Robert facilitates a research in teaching group within the accounting department and regularly presents at educational conferences, contributing to the scholarship of teaching and learning. He has extensive experience in tutoring and curriculum development, having previously founded and managed a tuition agency.
