Robert Ferguson is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Western Carolina University (WCU), affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on American History, particularly the American South, labor, rural studies, and environmental history. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an M.A. and B.A. from WCU. His book, *Race and the Remaking of the Rural South*, published in 2018, explores interracialism and cooperative farming in Jim Crow Mississippi. His work appears in journals like the *Journal of Southern History* and *Environment, Space, and Place*.
