Robert Doan is a History professor at Bellevue College, where he has been teaching for seven years as part of his over 20-year career in history education. He holds a Ph.D. in History from Temple University in Philadelphia.
Dr. Doan's research focuses on European and U.S. History from the late 18th through the early 20th centuries, with particular interest in the effects of industrialization, urbanization, and migration across Europe, the United States, and globally. His doctoral dissertation, "Green Gold to the Emerald Isle," examined the financial, nationalist, and familial connections maintained by Irish immigrants with their homeland from the 1850s to the 1920s.
A passionate world traveler who has visited nearly 70 countries, Dr. Doan incorporates his global experiences from Europe, India, China, Latin America, and East and South Asia into his teaching, enriching his students' understanding of ancient civilizations, cultures, philosophies, and religions.
