Robert Dimpsey is an Associate Teaching Professor at the Division of Computing & Software Systems within the School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics at the University of Washington. He earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering, along with a B.S. in Computer Engineering, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
His research and teaching focus on:
- Computer system performance analysis
- Development methodologies and architecture for high-scale cloud-based services
- Software engineering practices
Dr. Dimpsey has extensive industry experience, including leadership roles at IBM and Microsoft in designing products such as AIX, Java Virtual Machines, Windows Communication Foundation, and Azure services. His scientific contributions include over 30 patents in operating systems, developer tools, and cloud technologies.
