Robert Cribb is a Professor at the Department of Political and Social Change, Coral Bell School of Asia-Pacific Affairs, Australian National University. His career includes roles as Director of the Nordic Institute of Asian Studies (1997–1999), guest lecturer at Leiden University (1993), and researcher at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study. Educated at the University of Queensland (BA Hons) and SOAS, University of London (PhD, 1984), his research focuses on Indonesia and Southeast Asia, with themes in mass violence, national identity, environmental politics, and historical geography.
