Robert Crews is a Professor of History at Stanford University specializing in global history, focusing on Afghanistan, Russia, Central Asia, and Islam. He teaches courses on Russia's Muslim Frontiers, The Global Drug Wars, and Global History. He directs Stanford's Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies and the Abbasi Program in Islamic Studies, while serving as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Afghanistan.
