Robert Corry

Dr. Robert Corry is a Professor of Landscape Architecture at the University of Guelph's Ontario Agricultural College, affiliated with the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development. He serves as Coordinator for the Master's of Landscape Architecture Graduate Program and holds academic leadership roles in ecological design education and research.

Education: Associate Diploma in Agriculture (1987, U of Guelph), Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (1992, U of Guelph), Master of Landscape Architecture (1994, U of Minnesota), PhD in Natural Resources & Environment (2002, U of Michigan).

Research focuses on agricultural land conservation, ecological restoration of disturbed landscapes, perennial farming systems, and the intersection of landscape design with ecological processes. His work emphasizes using landscape ecology principles to guide sustainable agricultural practices and urban-rural interface management.

Key achievements include: recipient of 2011 CELA Excellence in Research Award, 2006 Council of Educators Award, and 1999 ASLA President's Award for stream corridor restoration work. His research has been presented in 12 countries and published in top journals like Landscape Ecology and Landscape and Urban Planning.

Advocacy and service: Interim Editor of Landscape Journal (2020-21), Co-chair of CELA's 2022 Conference Track on Evolving Norms. Active in guiding ecological restoration of aggregate pits and historic agricultural landscape analysis in southern Ontario.
