Robert Chase

Dr. Robert Chase is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. He is also an occupational health physician at the MFL Occupational Health Centre in Winnipeg. His research focuses on Life Story Board (LSB) as a visual narrative tool for counselling vulnerable populations, including refugees, newcomers, and individuals with addictions. He has collaborated internationally with NGOs in Western China, Cambodia, Uganda, and Canada.

Education: MD (McMaster University, 1985), MSc in Design Measurement and Evaluation (McMaster, 1994), Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in Public Health (1993). He has extensive field experience, including a 1991 study on Gulf War impacts in Iraq and child mental health research in Sri Lanka.

Research emphasizes visual methods in counselling, addictions, and global health. Current work involves LSB training for addiction rehabilitation counsellors and multicultural wellness programs. Teaching includes immigrant/refugee health in undergraduate medical education.
