Robert Byrne

Professor Robert Byrne is Chair of Cardiovascular Research at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and Director of Cardiology at the Mater Private Hospital, Dublin. He holds a PhD in Medical Life Science and Technology from Technische Universität München (2011) and an MB BCh BAO (Honours) from National University of Ireland Dublin (2000). His expertise spans interventional cardiology, cardiovascular devices, and clinical outcomes research.

Research & Awards

His work focuses on coronary interventions, drug-device technologies, and translational cardiovascular research. Notable awards include the European Society of Cardiology Atherothrombosis Research Fellowship (2008), Thomas J.
