Dr. Robert Beattie is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Medical Genetics at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba, and a Research Scientist at the Children's Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM), where he is affiliated with the ENRRICH research theme. His research focuses on neural stem cell lineage progression and central nervous system development.
His primary research interests include:
- Neurobiology and cortical development
- Neural stem cell behavior during neurogenesis and gliogenesis
- Genetic lineage tracing using Mosaic Analysis with Double Markers (MADM)
- Single-cell resolution studies of brain development
- Mechanisms underlying childhood developmental and neuropsychiatric disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and Schizophrenia
Dr. Beattie has received recognition for his research excellence, including the FWF Lise Meitner Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2017. He is actively involved in mentoring and currently welcomes Master’s and PhD students into his lab. His work is supported through affiliations with CHRIM and the University of Manitoba, contributing to neuroscience research capacity in Canada.
