Rob Locke

Rob Locke is a Senior Lecturer in Lighting Technology at the Faculty of Business and Creative Industries, University of South Wales. He joined the university in 2006 after a 20-year career with the BBC in Wales, specializing in broadcast TV lighting. As Course Leader for Sound and Live Event Production, and Lighting Design and Technology, he emphasizes industry collaboration to provide students with real-world production experiences. His technical expertise includes hardware interfaces and programming in C++/Python.

Research interests focus on applying broadcast TV lighting principles to academic training and interdisciplinary collaborations. Notable projects include technical support for the 2012 Olympics (OBS), USW graduation broadcasts, and TEDx technical production. He maintains strong ties with industry through partnerships in set design, fashion, and music production.
