Rob Conkie is the Robinson Distinguished Professor of Shakespeare Studies at the University of North Carolina Charlotte, affiliated with the Department of Theatre and the English program. His work bridges practical theatre performance and theoretical research, focusing on Shakespeare's works in live performance contexts.
He authored Writing Performative Shakespeares (2016) and The Globe Theatre Project (2006), and co-edited Shakespeare and Creative Criticism (2019). He directed over a third of Shakespeare’s plays, often involving students. Current projects include a comics-based ekphrasis of live theatre.
