Rob Alkemade is a Special Professor in Earth Systems and Global Change at Wageningen University & Research. His research focuses on ecosystem services, climate change, land use dynamics, biodiversity conservation, and environmental impact assessment. He actively advises multiple PhD candidates and co-leads projects addressing sustainability challenges in the Netherlands and globally.

- Global modeling of agricultural systems and biodiversity
- Nature-based solutions for flood protection and coastal management
- Climate change mitigation strategies in land-use sectors
Projects:
- Nexus approach for sustainable futures in the Netherlands
- Design for Contracts for Ecological Enhancements in Flood Protection Works
- Developing digital twins for real-time biodiversity monitoring
Advising: Supervises 5 ongoing PhD projects including work on biodiversity monitoring, nature-based solutions, and agricultural land management systems.
Labs/Teams: Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams on global biodiversity scenarios and the PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency.
