Risto Rinne is a Professor of Education and Vice-Dean at the Faculty of Education, University of Turku, Finland. He heads the Department of Education and the Research Centre of Lifelong Learning and Education (CELE). He directs the Finnish Multidisciplinary Doctoral Training Network on Educational Sciences (FinEd) and the doctoral program 'Educational Policy, LLL and Comparative Research on Education' (KEVEKO). He is a member of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters and has authored over 500 publications.
His research focuses on Sociology of Education, Politics of Education, International Comparative Education, Higher Education Governance, and History of Education. Key projects include studies on youth policies, Nordic education models, and transnational quality assurance in Brazil, China, and Russia.
Recent articles (2022-2024) analyze globalization's impact on education systems, Nordic higher education systems, and institutional transformations in universities. His work emphasizes policy reforms, comparative education frameworks, and the interplay between governance and educational structures.
