Rima Taher is a Senior University Lecturer at the Hillier College of Architecture & Design, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), and a part-time instructor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering. She is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in New Jersey and founder of Taher Engineering LLC. Dr. Taher holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Institut National des Sciences Appliquees de Lyon (1982), an M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering/Building Technology from École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, Paris (1983 and 1986).
Research Interests: Her work focuses on structural engineering, building design for high-wind forces, and hurricane-resistant construction. She has authored/co-authored books in structural technology, including Building Design for Wind Forces (McGraw Hill, 2019) and review guides for the Architect Registration Examination (ARE exam). Her research includes studies on wind forces in building technology and structural design resilience.
Professional Activities: Dr. Taher serves as President of the ASCE/SEI Chapter of North Jersey and lectures extensively on wind engineering and structural design. She maintains a consultancy practice through Taher Engineering LLC, specializing in civil/structural engineering.
