About
Rigmor Solberg is a Professor of Pharmacology at the Department of Pharmacy, University of Oslo. She holds a Ph.D. in Medical Biochemistry (1994) and has been a full professor since 2005. Her research focuses on proteolytic enzymes, particularly cysteine proteases like legumain, investigating their roles in bone, muscle, and cardiovascular systems. She is a member of the EU-COST Action ProteoCure.
- Education: Ph.D. (1994), M.Sc. Pharmacy (1988), B.Pharm. (1983), all from University of Oslo.
- Employment: Sabbatical stays at Sanford Burnham Prebys Institute (2014-15) and University of Southern Denmark (2022).
Her research group (MetHealth) explores legumain’s effects on drug responses in bone and muscle cells, linking proteolytic activity to diseases like osteoporosis and atherosclerosis. Recent work highlights legumain’s role in vitamin D metabolism, metabolic regulation in myotubes, and cardiovascular outcomes.
Publications (2024-2010) emphasize legumain’s roles in inflammation, drug inhibition (e.g., lansoprazole), and biomarker potential in acute coronary syndromes. Teaching includes pharmacology, physiology, and drug therapy courses (FARM1110-5180).
Labs/Teams: MetHealth Group, collaborating on protease-driven disease mechanisms and therapeutic targets.
