Ridvan Askin is a Research Fellow in Anglophone Linguistics and Literary Studies at the University of Basel, holding the title of Privatdozent. He completed his MA in Philosophy, English, and Portuguese at the University of Freiburg and earned his PhD in English Literature from the University of Basel. His research focuses on aesthetics, contemporary North American fiction, narrative theory, and the works of Gilles Deleuze. Askin has held visiting scholar positions at The Pennsylvania State University (2011) and the Heidelberg Center for American Studies (2016–2017).
His scholarly contributions include the book Narrative and Becoming (2016), which rethinks narrative theory through nonhuman frameworks, and co-edited volumes like The Aesthetics, Poetics, and Rhetoric of Soccer (2018). He is currently working on Transcendental Poetics and the Futures of American Romanticism. Askin’s interdisciplinary work bridges philosophy, literature, and cultural studies, emphasizing aesthetics and transnational perspectives.
