Rick Stevens is Professor of Computer Science at the University of Chicago and Associate Laboratory Director at Argonne National Laboratory. He leads national initiatives in Exascale computing and AI for Science, including development of the Aurora exascale supercomputer.
Research encompasses high-performance computing systems, AI-driven cancer research (CANDLE project), bioinformatics for infectious diseases (BV-BRC), and multimodal learning for complex system prediction. Current projects integrate deep learning with scientific simulation across oncology and virology domains.
Honors include ACM Fellowship, DOE Secretary of Energy Achievement Award, and ACM Gordon Bell Prize. He directs large-scale collaborations with Intel, Cray, and Cerebras Systems to advance computational infrastructure for scientific discovery.
