Rick Crawford

Dr. Rick Crawford is a Tenured Associate Professor of Political Science at Shorter University. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Political Science from Georgia State University, a J.D. from Georgia State University College of Law, and a B.A. in Music from Jacksonville State University. His academic career follows a significant professional background in law and public service.

Dr. Crawford’s research interests span multiple domains within political science, including American Government, Constitutional Law, International Relations, and Comparative Politics. His work emphasizes the intersection of legal systems and political behavior, informed by his practical experience in judicial processes and legislative frameworks.

He has taught courses such as American Government, Constitutional Law I, Judicial Process, Campaigns and Elections, and International Law and Organizations. Prior to academia, he practiced law, served as a law clerk to superior court judges, and held judicial roles in Cedartown, Rockmart, and Polk County. His civic engagement includes leadership in local organizations like the Georgia Council of Municipal Court Judges, Kiwanis Club of Cedartown, Exchange Club of Cedartown, and the Polk County Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Crawford served three terms in the Georgia House of Representatives and is active at Victory Baptist Church as a deacon. He is married to Susan with two children.
