Richard Todd

Richard Todd is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Guitar at Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music and an Associate Professor of Music at Tennessee State University, where he coordinates String and Music Theory programs. He holds a B.M. (summa cum laude) from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, an M.M. from Southern Methodist University, a D.M.A. from the University of North Texas, and a Diploma di Merito from the Accademia Chigiana in Italy. His performance career spans international festivals, with critical acclaim for his 'subtly brilliant' playing and recordings like the duo album Pura Vida. He also serves as President of the Middle Tennessee Guitar Alliance, promoting guitar education and outreach.

Research interests include classical guitar performance, pedagogy, and cross-cultural musical influences. His awards reflect early-career excellence, including top prizes in national competitions. Teaching and organizational leadership are central to his professional identity, bridging academia and community engagement through music.
