Richard S. Peigler

Richard S. Peigler is a Professor of Biology at the University of the Incarnate Word specializing in entomology. He holds a PhD in Entomology from Texas A&M University and has served as Curator of Entomology at Denver Museum of Natural History.

Peigler's research focuses on Saturniidae moths (wild silkmoths), investigating their taxonomy, phylogeny, hostplant ecology, and sericultural applications. He has conducted extensive fieldwork across Asia and North America.

His publications include taxonomic revisions of Attacus and Samia genera, studies on silk production, and molecular phylogenetic analyses. Recent work describes new moth species and examines cocoon morphology.
