Richard Mahon

Richard Mahon is an Adjunct Professor at Art Center College of Design, specializing in Entertainment Design. With a career spanning decades, he transitioned from being an award-winning illustrator (1977-1998) to a renowned professional in visual effects (VFX) for film and television, working on over 85 projects.

• Education: Studied illustration at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.

His research and professional work focuses on Visual Effects, Concept Art, and Matte Painting, contributing to iconic films like the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Matrix trilogy, and Fast & Furious titles, as well as award-winning TV shows such as Game of Thrones and Foundation. He has served as Matte Painting Supervisor on Oscar-winning projects including Life of Pi.
