Richard Kosowski is a Professor of Music at Mercer University's Townsend School of Music, serving as Director of Graduate Studies and Chair of Vocal Studies since 2007. He teaches applied voice, vocal pedagogy, and opera literature.

Dr. Kosowski's research focuses on opera, oratorio, voice science, and vocal pedagogy. He has conducted numerous opera productions such as Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, Handel's Alcina, and Mozart's The Magic Flute. His work also encompasses lyric diction and choral conducting.
As Director of Graduate Studies, he mentors graduate students and oversees academic programs. He directs the Mercer University Opera and was music director of the Mercer University Youth Choirs (2010-2020). He is active in the community with the Middle Georgia Opera Guild and Highland Hills Baptist Church.
His performance career spans over 50 opera and oratorio roles with ensembles including the Metropolitan Opera and New York City Opera.
