Richard King

Richard King is a Professor and Area Coordinator (Sound Recording) at McGill University's Schulich School of Music. He holds a part-time faculty role at the Banff Centre's sound and media department. His career spans 15 years at Sony Music Studios in New York and independent recording engineering, collaborating with major labels like Decca, EMI, and Nonesuch, as well as film companies like DreamWorks and Searchlight. King is an active presenter at AES conferences and a guest lecturer in university recording programs.

His research focuses on small environment control room acoustics, audio quality, and multichannel recording techniques. He leads the Immersive Media Lab (IML) and has been recognized with a Grammy and McGill's 2017-2018 Teaching Award (Full Time Category).

Professional affiliations include ongoing collaborations with Sony Music and academic outreach through panel discussions and workshops.
