Richard Hein

Richard Hein serves as a Professor in the Department of Environmental Science within the College of Science, Engineering and Technology at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. His office is located in F167 Biological Sciences, and he can be contacted via email at heinr@uwgb.edu.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Biological Oceanography from the University of Rhode Island, Graduate School of Oceanography (1999)
• B.A. in Biology (magna cum laude) from Lawrence University (1991)

Research Interests:

• Specializes in aquatic ecosystem dynamics with emphasis on stream water quality and nutrient cycling
• Investigates nonpoint source pollution impacts and watershed-scale management solutions
• Conducts coral reef ecology studies alongside STEM education initiatives
• Focuses on improving undergraduate retention and success in scientific disciplines
