Richard Gatti is a Senior Lecturer Practitioner in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Anglia Ruskin University, based in Chelmsford. He co-founded the award-winning Gatti Routh Rhodes Architects in 2013, maintaining leadership with a focus on civic and community projects. A certified Passivhaus designer and RIBA Conservation Registrant, he has taught Architecture across undergraduate to Part III levels since 2007.
Education includes a BSc (Hons) in Genetics & Zoology, BA (Hons) in Architecture, and advanced qualifications in architecture history, theory, and education. He contributes to RIBA's 'Part 3 equivalent' course for international architects and holds a PG Dip in Post Compulsory Education & Training.
Research interests emphasize environmental performance of buildings, retrofit strategies, and historical conservation. He integrates handmade craftsmanship with precision machinery in architectural design. Active in professional bodies: ARB, RIBA, SPAB (Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings), and Passivhaus.
