Richard Emes serves as Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and International at Nottingham Trent University (NTU), leading institutional strategy for research enhancement, international student experience, and global partnership development. His leadership encompasses preparation for national research assessments and strategic investment in research capabilities.
A specialist in bioinformatics with over 20 years' experience, Professor Emes focuses on genomic data integration, evolutionary analysis of pathogens, and development of analytical software tools. His research trajectory spans large-scale genome projects at Oxford's MRC Functional Genomics Unit and Cambridge's Sanger Institute, followed by MRC-funded pathogen evolution studies at UCL.
