Richard Andersen

Richard Andersen, PhD, is a Professor of English at Springfield College, affiliated with the Department of Literature, Writing, and Journalism within the School of Arts and Sciences. With 48 years of teaching experience, he has authored 30 books across creative writing, literary research, and writing instruction. He has been honored with the Springfield College Excellence in Teaching Award (2012) and was nominated for the Carnegie Foundation Professor of the Year Award (2000).

Research & Teaching: His work focuses on creative writing (including five novels and children's books), literary analysis of authors like Hemingway and Morrison, and pedagogical strategies for writing instruction. He teaches courses such as Contemporary American Literature and Writing for Human Services.
