Rich Traylor

Rich Traylor is a Professor of History at Hardin-Simmons University, affiliated with the Cynthia Ann Parker College of Liberal Arts and the Department of History. He joined the faculty in 2003 and specializes in Early America and American Religious Culture.

Dr. Traylor teaches foundational courses in U.S. history and advanced courses on Colonial and Revolutionary America, the Early Republic, and the Civil War/Reconstruction era. His research extends to biographical studies (Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Robert E. Lee) and the intersection of religion and culture, as evidenced by his 2015 book on Baptist movements in Kentucky. He contributes to scholarship through publications in journals like Missouri Historical Review and Baptist History and Heritage.
