Ricardo H. Juarez, MD, is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine (Clinician Educator) and Director of Critical/Intensive Care at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC). He joined USC's faculty in 1993 as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine, a role he continues to hold. His academic and clinical roles include Medical Directorships of Bronchoscopy Services, the Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Keck Hospital of USC, and several laboratories, including the Pulmonary Physiology Laboratory and the LAC+USC Sleep Laboratory. He has led the USC Sleep Diagnostics Program since 1994.
Dr. Juarez’s educational journey began at USC as an undergraduate, followed by medical school at the Keck School of Medicine, and subsequent training through residency, internship, and fellowship at USC-affiliated institutions. His expertise spans critical care, pulmonary medicine, and sleep medicine, with a focus on clinical education and translational research.
Outside clinical and academic roles, he has contributed to university leadership, including service as a community outreach member for USC’s Minorities Affairs Office and Union President for the LAC+USC Chapter of the Joint Council of Interns and Residents.
