About
Ricarda Roggan has served as Professor of Photography at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart since 2013, where she teaches in the Department of Art. She previously earned her Master of Arts from the Royal College of Art in London (2003-2005) and completed her photography studies at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig under Prof. Timm Rautert, receiving her Diploma in 2002.
Her research explores the intersection of photography, spatial representation, and object studies, with a particular focus on how everyday objects and environments transform when captured through the photographic lens. She examines the relationships between materiality, space, and perception in contemporary visual culture.
Roggan's artistic publications demonstrate consistent examination of spatial relationships and object representation. Her works frequently document architectural spaces, industrial environments, and everyday objects through carefully composed photographic series that invite contemplation of material presence and absence.
