Dr. Ria Weston is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Life Sciences at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). She holds a PhD in Cellular Physiology (University of Manchester, 2008) and a BSc in Biomedical Sciences (University of Manchester, 2004). Her academic leadership roles include Academic Lead for the STP Histopathology and MSc Cellular Pathology programs, and Admissions Lead for the Department of Life Sciences.
Her research focuses on vascular calcification in diabetes, roles of advanced glycation end products (AGEs), diabetic wound healing, endothelial progenitor cells, and DNA damage/repair. She is affiliated with MMU's Cardiovascular Science research group. Key areas of expertise include Vascular Disease, Histology, and Pathology.
Ria actively contributes to STEM outreach as a Northwest STEM ambassador and serves on the judging panel for the UK HeartSafe awards.
