About
Rhiannon Graybill is an Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, where she has taught since 2012. Her scholarship focuses on gender and sexuality in biblical texts, feminist and queer criticism, and intersections between biblical literature and contemporary social issues. She is the author of Are We Not Men? Unstable Masculinity in the Hebrew Prophets (Oxford, 2016) and is currently working on a book of feminist biblical readings. Graybill has taught courses in diverse settings, including a transformative experience teaching incarcerated men at San Quentin State Prison during her graduate studies, which influenced her approach to trauma-informed pedagogy.
Her research explores how biblical narratives can be reinterpreted through feminist and queer theoretical frameworks to address modern questions about identity, power, and justice. While the text does not list specific scientific awards or peer-reviewed articles, her contributions to pedagogical discussions around anti-racism, embodied teaching, and religious literacy demonstrate engagement with critical educational practices in theological and religious studies.
