Reza Moghimi

Reza Moghimi, Ph.D., is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at SMU Lyle School of Engineering. His research focuses on structural dynamics and seismic protection of structures using damping and isolation systems, with expertise in finite element analysis and earthquake engineering.

• Education: Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Southern Methodist University

His work includes NSF and FDOT funded projects on pressurized sand dampers and inerters for seismic mitigation. Key publications examine mechanical analogues for cities, response modification with rotational inertia, and damping system characterization. He received the Outstanding Graduate Student Award during his Ph.D. studies.
