Renzo Akkerman

Dr. Renzo Akkerman is an Associate Professor in Operations Research and Logistics at Wageningen University. Previously, he held roles as Professor of Operations Management and Technology at Technical University of Munich and Associate Professor at Technical University of Denmark. His research focuses on sustainable operations management, food supply chains, and circular economy logistics. He holds a PhD in Operations Management from the University of Groningen and an MSc in Econometrics and Operations Research.

Key research areas include optimizing resource utilization (e.g., water), designing food supply chains with quality/safety considerations, and logistics challenges in circular economy transitions. He actively contributes to initiatives like the Carlsberg Group’s sustainability programs and serves on the Beta Research School for Operations Management and Logistics.
