Rengachary Parthasarathy is a Lecturer in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at San José State University (SJSU). He holds an Emeritus Professor title from the Biophysics Department at the State University of New York (SUNY) Buffalo (1996–present) and previously served as a Research Professor of Biophysics there (1976–1996). He directed graduate studies in Biophysics at SUNY Buffalo's Roswell Park Division (1978–1992).
Education: PhD in Physics (Univ. of Madras, 1962), another PhD from SUNY Buffalo (1966), and MSc in Physics (Univ. of Madras, 1958).
Research focuses on biophysics, crystallography, and biomolecular structure. His work includes contributions to direct methods in crystallography and international collaborations. Honors include the Raman Research Gold Medal (1965) and Fr. Sewell Gold Medal (1957). He received NATO and CECAM fellowships, and grants from NSF and NIH. He also contributed to UNDP's biophysics technology transfer to India (1985–1986).
