Renate Slang

Renate Slang is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Nursing, Health and Bioengineering at Høgskolen i Østfold. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Bergen University College (1997-2000), a Post Graduate Diploma in Intensive Care Nursing from La Trobe University, Australia (2004), and a Master's in Health Sciences from the University of Oslo (2006-2009). With over 18 years of clinical experience in hospitals, including roles in intensive care units focusing on respiratory care, she transitioned to academia in 2019 as a university lecturer.

Her research interests center on critical care nursing, digitalization in healthcare settings, simulation-based education, and cross-border nursing practices. Key projects include 'Digital tools in specialized nursing' and 'The time after the intensive care stay.' Her work explores the impact of digital tools on nursing workflows and student engagement in hybrid learning environments.

Publications highlight topics such as nurse experiences with digitalization in operating theaters and emergency departments, as well as systematic reviews on ICU interventions. Collaborations with hospitals and academic institutions emphasize practical applications of research in healthcare education and patient care.
