Renate Buisman

Dr. Renate Buisman is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Education and Child Studies, Leiden University, where she teaches courses in Pedagogical Sciences (BSc) and Education and Child Studies (MSc and research MSc). She is affiliated with the organisational units of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Education and Child Studies, and Forensic Family and Youth Care Studies.

Her research focuses on child development and family dynamics, with specific interests in attachment patterns, security mechanisms, domestic violence prevention, child neglect interventions, sensitive parenting techniques, and stress management in family contexts. A key research project involves enhancing fathers' sensitive parenting through prenatal video-feedback interventions using ultrasound imaging.
