Renae Swanson, Ph.D., serves as the Interim Dean of the College of Education and Human Services (COEHS) at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. She holds a Ph.D. in Counseling and Psychology in Education with a Counselor Education specialization from the University of South Dakota (2007). Her expertise spans mental health counseling, quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, marriage and family counseling, and individual appraisal.
Dr. Swanson's research focuses on parenting strategies, LGBTQIA identity development, suicidal behaviors in adolescents, and diagnosis. She emphasizes fostering mastery-oriented learning in students through educational strategies. Active in professional organizations, she is a member of the American Counseling Association and the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision.
She teaches courses such as Assessment, Relational Systems, Counseling Process, and Research Methodology. With over 15 years at UW Oshkosh since 2007, she prioritizes collaborative scholarly work with students and colleagues.
