René Jansen is a Research Fellow at Tilburg Law School within Tilburg University, affiliated with the Private Business and Labour Law department. His work focuses on Legal Privilege, Transnational Evidence, and Procedural Law in international litigation contexts.

His research addresses Private International Law and International Civil Procedure, analyzing how legal privilege laws from different jurisdictions interact during transnational litigation. He proposes harmonized rules to prevent evidence shopping and jurisdictional conflicts, particularly emphasizing the protection of attorney-client communications.

Recent publications highlight trends in Civil Procedure, including videoconferencing in courtrooms (2020), preliminary witness interrogation challenges (2019), and a comparative analysis of legal privilege (2021 thesis). The 2022 articles further refine applications of legal privilege in Dutch practice.
