Remko van der Pluijm

Remko van der Pluijm serves as a lecturer-researcher at the Business Innovation Knowledge Center and teaches in the Commercial Economics: Marketing of Social Business program at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. He also delivers an annual guest lecture on "The Politics of Gaming" at Leiden University's Faculty of Governance and Public Affairs and works as a freelance Game Design Consultant for MEgood, a startup focused on sustainable transition games.

His educational background includes nearly completed studies in Industrial Engineering and Management (Rijswijk University of Applied Sciences), a Master's degree in Philosophy, and a Postmaster's degree in Logic, Philosophy, and History of Science from Ghent University. His research interests span ethical economics, behavioral economics, social marketing, and game design applications for social change, with a strong philosophical foundation examining how economic systems dehumanize people and require fundamental restructuring.

Remko coordinates the Fieldlab Meaningful Economy, a minor+ program helping companies transition to socially just and ecological practices, and contributes to the New Economics Lab at the Business Innovation Knowledge Center. His work focuses on bringing the "human touch back to major strategic themes" and examining how organizations can address societal problems while considering individual and group consequences. His teaching philosophy emphasizes Socratic dialogue that empowers students to develop their own visions for the future rather than transmitting predetermined knowledge.
