Dr. Remi Edwards is a Research and Impact Associate at the Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute (SPERI), University of Sheffield. She holds a PhD in Politics, alongside MA degrees in Global Political Economy and Social Research, and a BA in International Relations and Politics.
Her research focuses on global political economy, particularly labour dynamics in supply chains, private governance initiatives, and the intersection of race and class in agricultural industries. Edwards has explored worker-driven initiatives in US agriculture, Costa Rican banana supply chains, and global garment sector living wage commitments. She also examines scandal-driven shifts in labour movements and cultures of consumption.
Edwards contributes to SPERI through the SPERI Blog, podcast production, and knowledge exchange. Her work includes collaborations on forced labour in supply chains and the political economy of the Weinstein scandal. She convenes a SPERI research cluster on (Dis)order in Global Capitalism.
Teaching includes POL119 Introduction to Global Political Economy. Research grants include an ESRC White Rose Doctoral Training Partnership award.
