Reinhold Kramer

Dr. Reinhold Kramer is a Professor in the English Department at Brandon University, specializing in Canadian Literature, Postmodernism, and Literary Theory. He holds a B.A. from the University of Winnipeg and M.A./Ph.D. from the University of Manitoba. His research explores intersections between literature and social history, with notable works including Mordecai Richler: Leaving St. Urbain (2008) and When the State Trembled (2010).

He has received awards such as the Canadian Jewish Book Award and Gabrielle Roy Prize. Collaborations with Tom Mitchell produced influential studies on the Winnipeg General Strike and Hilda Blake’s tragic history. His teaching spans courses like Contemporary Critical Theory, Commonwealth Literature, and Film Studies.

Research interests include postmodern culture, biographical narratives, and the role of literature in reflecting societal shifts. Current projects examine postmodernism’s enduring relevance in contemporary art and media.
