Reinhard Markowetz

Reinhard Markowetz is a Professor of Special Education and Full Professor for Education for Intellectual Disabilities and Behavioral Disorders at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU). He holds an honorary professorship at the Catholic University of Freiburg. His career includes roles as Dean of the Department of Special Education and Head of Special Education (BA/MA) programs at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Freiburg (2002–2011). He has served as a visiting professor at multiple institutions including universities in Burkina Faso, Austria, Palestine, and Guatemala.

Education:

• Doctorate in Philosophy (Dr. phil.) from the University of Hamburg, Faculty of Education, Psychology and Human Movement Science.
• Graduate teacher (Diplom-Pädagoge) with specialization in Biology & Chemistry secondary school teaching and special education (focus on learning, intellectual development, and socio-emotional development).

Research focuses on inclusion/participation, destigmatization, disability studies, inclusive teaching methods, autism spectrum disorders, and international comparative education. His work addresses heterogeneous learning groups, adult education, and clinical rehabilitation contexts.
