Reiner Leist is an Assistant Professor at Hunter College in New York City, specializing in photography and visual arts. He previously served as a Visiting Lecturer in the Visual Arts Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), associated with the School of Architecture + Planning. His work focuses on cultural documentation, portraiture, and the intersection of art with social and technological themes.
Leist has exhibited extensively internationally, including major solo exhibitions at the Deutsches Historisches Museum Berlin (2004), Staatliche Galerie Moritzburg (2001), and Fotomuseum München (1993–1994). His group exhibitions include the National Arts Festival Grahamstown (1989) and Chuo Library Musashino (2002).
