Reidar Kristoffersen

Reidar Kristoffersen is an Associate Professor at the Department of Energy and Process Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). His research focuses on fluid dynamics, turbulence modeling, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and aerodynamics. He has contributed to studies on rotating channel flows, vortex dynamics, wind turbine simulations, and phase transition modeling using advanced numerical methods like DNS and OpenFOAM.

His work spans from fundamental turbulence research in low Reynolds number flows to applied CFD in biomedical and renewable energy systems. Key areas include vortex behavior in airfoils, energy diffusion mechanisms in Couette flows, and numerical solver development using multigrid methods.

He has presented at international conferences such as SIMS 2017 and Turbulence and Shear Flow Phenomena 2001. Teaching responsibilities include courses on computational fluid dynamics (TEP4166), fluid mechanics (TEP4110), and thesis supervision in thermo-fluid dynamics.
