Reem Hajjar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Forest Ecosystems & Society at Oregon State University's College of Forestry. Her research examines community forestry, international forest governance, socio-ecological systems, and poverty-livelihood linkages. She holds a PhD from the University of British Columbia and leads the Forests, Livelihoods, Institutions, and Governance (FoLIAGe) Research Group.
Her work analyzes global community forest outcomes, equity in conservation regimes, Indigenous ecocultural revitalization, and power dynamics in forest collaboratives. Recent publications explore data challenges in socioeconomic assessments, wildfire resilience equity in Oregon, Ghana's REDD+ impacts, and trade-offs in Mexican forest enterprises. Research emphasizes participatory governance, climate justice, and policy levers for poverty alleviation.
